New Role: Senior Fintech Reporter, The Block

LHK: I had been freelancing for about a year and a half before this role, so going full-time at one place will be something to get used to. The biggest change will probably be having a beat where I’m focused in on a specific set of companies and trends rather than dipping my toes in a more general pool while pitching to multiple publications.

LHK: I think working in a variety of different formats will be helpful; from breaking news and listicles to longer form and more investigative pieces. I also think the ability to work independently will be important as the team is pretty much fully remote, with only a handful of us in London.

LHK: Both the worlds of fintech and crypto move fast. New tech is being tested and rolled out all the time and the market can flip in a minute. I think trying to stay ahead of it will be both challenging and rewarding with new concepts and shifting goalposts to get my head around.
