MEDIA MOVES: Ryan Nguyen, WSJ to Seattle Times
Qwoted is committed to supporting the media by speaking to and highlighting journalists in their exploration of various roles. What changes are ahead? What learnings do you expect to be helpful in this new role?
News Producer, The Seattle Times
Previous Role: Reporter Intern, The Wall Street Journal
RN: I’ve always admired the Seattle Times for its rock star reporting and really solid dedication to community journalism. After helping start digital initiatives at my college newspaper at the University of Oregon, I was especially drawn to the digital team.
RN: I’m excited to be working in a journalism role that’s main focus isn’t reporting, and trying to find other ways of working with reporters to do good journalism. I’m excited to work with things like the website and social media, even using maybe a little bit of analytics to discover new ways to do journalism.
RN: Trying to constantly push the boundaries of what we can do as a newsroom to make sure that we really do our best for our readers. Having that sort of mindset I think will be the best thing.
